I have been learning, struggling, evaluating and experiencing design all my life.
Truly.
I am not someone who went to school to become a designer. I went to art school to learn how to become a better artist. To live with myself and the creative that matures with me on a daily basis. I wanted to learn the history and principles of art and study the artists and designers who made the choice to live by their work.
I am inspired Mark Rothko, Andrew Wyeth and Mike and Doug Starn.

I get asked a lot to work on commissions, magazine design, graphics and a variety of other projects.
I talk with students frequently about design approaches and my personal insights as well as creative practices. Because of my history in design + action sports I'm asked to do small talks as well full presentations and exhibitions. Its always a pleasure sharing my insights from over 35 years of practice.
Im always grateful for the opportunity.
An evening at LaSalle College, Vancouver, BC.

I was invited by Matt Warburton, Associate Director, Design, UBC Brand & Marketing Partner, Emdoubleyu Communications + Design to come talk at the Jim Rimmer Scholarship awards at LaSalle College, Vancouver BC. During my talk, I also tipped the design process to Jim through the poster design and then continued to speak about the my design influences and the process of working outside the computer. Below are some of the slides from the 155 page presentation.

Tal Roberts "Layers" Show. Polar Store. Portland Oregon
Tal Roberts and I collaborated on a piece for a personal show he was having at the Polar Portland Store. Skateboarder Nick McCann was photographed by Tal at Burnside Skatepark. Together, we chose this photograph based on the heavy black sections in the compositions. I placed found graphic material to disassemble the space all on the studio bench with typographic and graphic sections.to complete the image.
